Pilates attempts to coordinate these special breathing techniques with precise movements for increased balance and strength

FLOW

Physical energy exerted by the core muscles should coordinate movement in the extremities. Flowing movement outwards from a strong core.

CONTROL

Pilates requires total control over every aspect of movement. It teaches you to be in control of your body, not at its mercy.

CENTERING

The main focus of Pilates.
All movement in Pilates should start at the center (core muscles – abs, back, glutes, thighs) and flow outward to the limbs.

PRECISION

The focus is on doing one precise and perfect movement, rather than several improper movements.
